Business Description

The Powerhouse, originally constructed in 1917 by the D.C. Paper Manufacturing Company, served as the power house for the paper company. After the company began using a newer power house in 1919, the original Powerhouse was purchased by the Capitol Traction Company and repurposed as a store room for the streetcar system.
