SICAN Scholars Mentoring Program

The SICAN Scholars Mentoring Program, offered by the Southwest Indiana College Access Network (SICAN), provides free resources, career counseling, and guidance to students, parents, and mentors throughout the application and admissions process for postsecondary education. The program emphasizes the importance of successful mentoring, which involves sharing responsibility for learning and setting a contract for learning. Mentoring activities include college visits, career exploration, personality and life skill assessments, scholarship opportunities, and job shadowing. Mentors make a one-year commitment to their mentee, meeting for a minimum of one hour per week and participating in orientation training and special events.
