Reading Partners NYC

Reading Partners NYC is a national education nonprofit that works with elementary schools to support students who are reading six months to two and a half years below grade-level. They recruit and train community volunteers to work one-on-one with students using a structured, research-validated curriculum. In the 2014-2015 school year, they served 14 schools and 800 students in the NYC area and are on track to serve more than 8,000 students nationwide by 2015. Reading Partners is a proud partner with the Corporation for National and Community Service and has a strong record of success in NYC, with 90% of students accelerating their progress in reading and 73% narrowing their reading achievement gap during the 2013-14 school year. Their goal is to help children become lifelong readers by empowering communities to provide individualized instruction with measurable results.
