Melrose Caverns

Melrose Caverns has a rich history dating back to the pre-revolutionary era, with the property originally belonging to the Harrison family. The Caverns gained historical significance during the Civil War, and in 1929, the Lodge was constructed as a Civil War museum and entrance facility. The Caverns operated as a tourist attraction under various names, but changes in traffic patterns led to its closure in 1966. Today, the property is owned by Melrose Caverns, Inc. and the Lodge is open for various events, including weddings and family reunions. The owners have applied to have the property listed on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places.
