EcoVillage Charlottesville

The mission of EcoVillage Charlottesville is to create a sustainable and compassionate community in Charlottesville/Albemarle. The village will include residences, educational programs, food production, and businesses, all aligned with the values of compassion, justice, and cooperation. The community will work towards net-zero energy usage and zero waste, and will prioritize accessibility and diversity. Residents are committed to living and working cooperatively, embracing self-healing and growth, and connecting with the greater Charlottesville community. The physical form of the community will consist of compact, energy-efficient dwellings around a common house, with a focus on community interaction and connection. The village is expected to break ground in 2020 and be completed by 2022, with a strong focus on sustainability and efficiency.
