City Limits, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1976, is dedicated to informing democracy and empowering citizens to create a more just New York City. The organization is funded by foundation support, ad sponsorship, and reader donations. In 2012, City Limits went all digital and acquired the Bronx News Network. The organization also launched the Brooklyn Bureau in the same year. Additionally, City Limits established the Center for an Urban Future, a leading think tank that is now a separate entity.
