Brooklyn Oenology, founded in 2006 by winemaker Alie Shaper, is the first winery with operations established in Brooklyn. Their wines are exclusively produced from grapes grown in New York and feature works by Brooklyn-based artists. The Brooklyn Oenology Tasting Room, opened in November 2010, offers a range of BOE wines for tasting and purchase, as well as a selection of other New York wines, spirits, and locally made foods. As they celebrate 10 years in business in 2016, Brooklyn Oenology continues to be inspired by the artisanal renaissance of Brooklyn and the diverse possibilities of locally made products.
